Effective Date & Eligibility

This warranty applies only to new fibreglass pool shells sold and invoiced by Pools for Africa on or after 1 March 2026.

This warranty does not apply retrospectively to any pool manufactured, supplied, invoiced or sold before 1 March 2026, irrespective of whether that pool was previously marketed or sold under the Pools for Africa name or brand.

Any warranty applicable to a pool sold before 1 March 2026, if any, remains subject to the supplier, warranty terms and contractual arrangements applicable to that original transaction.

This warranty is issued exclusively to the original purchaser named on the Pools for Africa invoice and is non-transferable.

The warranty is valid only where:

1. The pool has been paid for in full.
2. The pool has been installed in accordance with Pools for Africa’s installation specifications and applicable building requirements.
3. The purchaser notifies Pools for Africa in writing within 10 days of becoming aware of a potential warranty issue.
4. The purchaser provides the original Pools for Africa invoice and any information reasonably required to assess the claim.
5. The purchaser provides reasonable access to the pool and surrounding area for inspection and, where applicable, repairs.

15-Year Structural Shell Warranty

Pools for Africa warrants the fibreglass pool shell against qualifying structural failure for 15 years from the date of the original Pools for Africa invoice.

For purposes of this warranty, “structurally sound” means that the manufactured fibreglass shell remains capable of containing water under normal operating and ground conditions when correctly installed, operated and maintained.

Water loss, cracking, deformation or movement does not, by itself, establish a manufacturing defect or a valid structural warranty claim. The cause of the reported failure must first be determined.

Where Pools for Africa determines that a qualifying manufacturing-related structural failure of the fibreglass shell is covered by this warranty, Pools for Africa will, at its discretion, repair, reinforce, modify or replace the affected shell or portion thereof.

6-Month Gelcoat, Colour & Surface Warranty

The gelcoat, colour and cosmetic surface finish of the pool are warranted for a period of 6 months from the date of the original Pools for Africa invoice.

During this period, qualifying manufacturing-related surface defects may include gelcoat chips, blistering, abnormal hairline cracking or other defects in the original manufactured surface, subject to inspection and determination of cause by Pools for Africa.

After 6 months, no warranty is provided in respect of colour, gelcoat appearance or cosmetic surface condition, including fading, discolouration, staining, shade variation, yellowing, whitening, chalking, roughness, hairline cracks, blistering, gelcoat chips, cosmetic cracking or other changes in surface appearance.

Fibreglass pool surfaces are exposed to UV light, water chemistry, sanitising chemicals, minerals, temperature and normal ageing. Colour and surface appearance may therefore change over time and such changes do not constitute structural failure of the fibreglass shell.

For the avoidance of doubt, the 15-year structural shell warranty does not constitute a 15-year warranty on the gelcoat, colour or cosmetic appearance of the pool.

Surface Repairs

All surface repairs under this warranty must be carried out or authorised by Pools for Africa.

Where reasonably possible, repair materials will be selected to approximate the original colour and finish. However, an exact colour match cannot be guaranteed, particularly where the original pool surface has aged, weathered or been exposed to UV light, chemicals and differing water conditions.

Installation Requirements

The 15-year structural warranty applies to the manufactured fibreglass shell and does not constitute a warranty of installation work performed by an independent installer, contractor, builder, developer or purchaser.

The pool must be installed strictly in accordance with Pools for Africa’s installation specifications and applicable building requirements.

A minimum 10:1 clean sand-and-cement backfill mixture must be used unless otherwise specified in writing by Pools for Africa.

The person or contractor responsible for installation is responsible for ensuring appropriate excavation, levelling, support, foundations where required, backfilling, plumbing, drainage, coping and management of groundwater and hydrostatic pressure.

Damage caused or contributed to by incorrect, inadequate or non-compliant installation is not covered by the Pools for Africa structural shell warranty.

Where the cause of a reported failure may relate to installation, Pools for Africa may require reasonable evidence regarding the installation, including installer details, photographs, backfill information, drainage arrangements and other relevant information.

Independent Installers & Contractors

Where installation or other work is carried out by an independent pool installer, builder, contractor, developer, purchaser or other third party, that party remains responsible for its own workmanship and compliance with the required installation specifications.

Pools for Africa’s structural shell warranty does not cover defective workmanship or damage caused or contributed to by an independent installer or contractor.

Any workmanship warranty relating to installation must be pursued with the person or entity responsible for carrying out that work.

The fact that an installer or contractor purchases Pools for Africa products, has previously installed Pools for Africa pools, or has been recommended or referred to a customer does not make that installer an employee, agent or representative of Pools for Africa unless expressly agreed in writing.

Pool Water Temperature

The maximum permitted operating water temperature depends on the construction specification of the pool shell.

• Standard Pools for Africa fibreglass pool shells: maximum water temperature of 29°C.
• Vinyl Ester pool shells specifically manufactured and invoiced as such: maximum water temperature of 39°C.

Heating a standard fibreglass pool shell above 29°C, or a qualifying Vinyl Ester shell above 39°C, falls outside the intended operating conditions of the product and may invalidate warranty coverage for damage caused or contributed to by excessive temperature.

The higher 39°C limit applies only where the original Pools for Africa invoice or other written documentation expressly identifies the pool as having been manufactured to the applicable Vinyl Ester specification. The installation of a heat pump or other heating system does not, by itself, mean that the pool is suitable for operation above 29°C.

Inspection & Determination of Cause

All warranty claims are subject to assessment before liability is accepted.

Pools for Africa, or a suitably qualified person appointed by it, may inspect the pool and determine the probable cause of the reported problem.

The assessment may include consideration of the manufacture of the shell, installation method, excavation, backfilling, drainage, groundwater, hydrostatic pressure, plumbing, surrounding construction, operating temperature, maintenance, water chemistry and any subsequent alterations or works.

Submitting or reviewing a claim, requesting an invoice or photographs, commenting on photographs, inspecting a pool, providing technical advice, arranging a contractor or otherwise attempting to assist a customer does not constitute acceptance of a warranty claim, an admission of a manufacturing defect or an acceptance of liability.

Maintenance & Water Chemistry

The pool must be properly maintained and operated using appropriate water chemistry throughout its service life.

This warranty does not cover damage, deterioration or surface conditions caused or contributed to by inadequate maintenance, incorrect water chemistry, excessive chemical concentrations, algae infestation, calcium scale, mineral deposits, misuse or neglect.

Water Level, Drainage & Hydrostatic Pressure

The pool is designed to remain filled with water under normal operating conditions.

1. The pool should not be emptied or allowed to remain with the water level substantially below its normal operating level except where properly managed as part of authorised maintenance or repair work.
2. Appropriate drainage must be provided to prevent groundwater, stormwater or runoff from accumulating around the pool shell.
3. Overflowing water, inadequate drainage, groundwater and hydrostatic pressure may cause movement, bulging, deformation or other damage to the pool shell and surrounding structures.

Damage caused or contributed to by hydrostatic pressure, groundwater, flooding, stormwater, inadequate drainage or the pool being left empty or inadequately filled is not covered by this warranty.

Equipment & Materials

This structural shell warranty does not cover pipework, pipe fittings, skimmers, inlet or return fittings, light niches or other equipment or materials connected to or installed around the pool.

Filtration systems, pumps, motors, chlorinators, heat pumps, lights and other equipment are subject to the individual warranties provided by their respective manufacturers or suppliers.

Coping, Paving & Surrounding Works

Coping, paving, decking, landscaping and other surrounding structures or improvements are not covered by this structural shell warranty.

Repair or Replacement

Where a valid structural warranty claim is accepted, Pools for Africa will determine the appropriate remedial action. This may include repair, reinforcement, modification or replacement of the affected shell or portion thereof.

Unless otherwise required by applicable law, Pools for Africa is not responsible under this warranty for consequential costs or losses including loss of pool use, inconvenience, replacement water, landscaping, paving, decking, fencing, plants, access works or other surrounding property.

Submitting a Warranty Claim

All warranty claims must be submitted in writing and include:

1. The original purchaser’s full name.
2. The original Pools for Africa invoice number.
3. The date of purchase.
4. The installation address.
5. The name and details of the person or company that installed the pool.
6. A detailed description of the alleged defect.
7. Photographs and/or video clearly showing the reported problem.
8. Any additional information reasonably requested by Pools for Africa to assess the claim.

No warranty claim will be regarded as accepted until Pools for Africa has investigated the claim and confirmed acceptance in writing.

Important Notice Regarding Pools Sold Before 1 March 2026

This warranty applies exclusively to qualifying new fibreglass pool shells sold and invoiced by Pools for Africa on or after 1 March 2026.

The publication of this warranty on poolsforafrica.co.za does not retrospectively create, extend, renew, replace or assume any warranty in respect of a pool manufactured, supplied, invoiced or sold before 1 March 2026.

Any warranty applicable to a pool sold before that date, if any, must be determined according to the legal entity that originally supplied and invoiced the pool and the warranty documentation and terms applicable to that original transaction.

The fact that Pools for Africa currently uses the same business name, domain name, website, product names or other intellectual property does not, by itself, create a new warranty or alter the terms of a warranty previously issued by another supplier.

General Warranty Terms

This written warranty records the terms of the Pools for Africa warranty applicable to qualifying pools sold and invoiced from 1 March 2026.

No employee, dealer, installer, contractor or other person may vary or extend this warranty unless the variation is expressly confirmed in writing by Pools for Africa.

Nothing in this warranty excludes, restricts or limits any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or limited under applicable South African law.
